Me, My Family, And I

Hello friends!

Well, I finally decided to take the plunge and create a blog!  So I'll begin by telling you some about my family.

I'm blessed to have wonderful, supportive parents, and 4 hilarious, awesome (well, most of the time ;)) little siblings. Thomas (3), Chloe (7), Aaron (9), and Benjamin (14). Me? I suppose I'll tell you... I'm 16.

Oh, and did I tell you that we're cows?

My mom and siblings dressed up for Chick-fil-A cow appreciation day.
I dressed up, too. :)
...not really. ;)

My family has moved...alot.
First Raleigh, NC.
Then Asheville, NC.
Third, Louisville, KY.
After that came New York City, NY.

Then we moved to Black Mountain, NC (near Asheville).
In 2008, we moved to Charleston, SC.

And then 2 months ago, in August of 2011, we moved back to NC. To Hendersonville. (Also near Asheville).

I've loved everywhere we've lived. But North Carolina is probably my favorite. It's SO beautiful here. Especially if you like hiking...and apples.

If moving is an adventure, well, I've had quite a few adventures. I don't want to ever move again, though. I'd like to stay here in NC for years and years... But I'll be going to college in a year and a half, and who knows what after that.

To tell you a little more about myself, I'd say I'm a pretty simple person. I'd like for my life to be simple as well, but things always end up being more complicated than they seem. The good news is that God is always in control, even when to me my life feels out of control. I know that everything that happens in my life is part of the sovereign, providential plan he has for me. It's incredibly reassuring. More than that, because I have placed my faith in him, I can remain joyful, even when I face trials and hopeless circumstances (Romans 5:1-5...please read it!) Yeah, that's huge! It's definitely not easy to do, and I fail at it most of the time. But it always encourages me.

Hopefully I'll find time to make another post sometime soon. I really don't have much time for blogging, but I'll do my best. Who knows, maybe I'll even surprise myself...
Have a fantastic week!

~Rachel :)

  1. What I wouldn't give to be back in NC... That's awesome you have so much trust in Jesus. Sure I trust him, but sometimes I still wish I could be in control. *sheepish grin*

  2. I do that, too! But I always feel so much better when I remember that God is the one in control, not my own sinful self. :)
